UPDATE: Actually, it wasn't hacked. McCain's people stole the design for the MySpace page and didn't give the designer credit. The designer retaliated brilliantly!
Instead of merely laughing at this, I wanted to take a second to inform in-the-dark readers about John McCain's stance on gay rights. In 2005, when he was re-running for Senator of Arizona, he supported an initiative that would ban gay marriages in his state and deny government benefits to unmarried couples. In January 2007, he said he thinks it's cool if gay people want to have a "private ceremony" to celebrate their love for each other, but wants the sanctity of the union between a man and a woman preserved. He "[does] not believe that gay marriage should be legal."
So, thanks McCain -- if a gay couple wants to have a couple friends over, drink some wine, have some rice thrown at them and walk down the "aisle" hallway of their apartment building in a "private ceremony," that's fine, but so is 7-year-olds getting married on the playground with twisty-tie rings. And the marriage between the gay couple will be just as recognized as the recess marriage by the type of government you support.
If John McCain wants the Republican nomination, he's going to have to appeal to the maverick anti-gay crowd littering this country. So, look again at his MySpace page before they take it down ... while you're at it, call up his press people and ask them what made him change his stance so quickly. I'm sure they'll LOVE that.
