How's everybody's summer going thus far, QueerSighters?
We've made it to August which, for much of the U.S. of A., brings sweltering heat, lots of suntan lotion, five showers a day, pretty high electric bills and, if you're me, lots of detours into stores like Banana Republic and Club Monaco to get out of the thick summer air and into a happily air-conditioned environment, even if it's for only a few minutes.
In Manhattan, we have the wonderful Westside Highway and the pier (photo below) where, usually on Saturdays and Sundays, tons of well-toned men and women -- many of whom are our kind of people -- flock to the closest thing New York City proper has to a beach-like setting to cool off and/or show off.

You can hear the flap-flap of the water. You can lie out on pretty green grass. Often you can see The Circle Line pass by. Jumpy and happy dogs are everywhere. And ... they sell ice-cream! Um, need I say more?
Since it's summer, I thought I'd share with you, our lovely and wonderful readers, another short film by Randy Eisenberg. (For those of you who don't remember, I posted this film of his, and this one, too, a few weeks ago.) Truth is, I've fallen head-over-heels for his work ever since I stumbled upon it.
This one takes place on the summery pier and has a summery feel. Though it's a wee-bit dated (there's a Napster reference and talk of a Madonna concert from years ago, for instance), it's pretty funny nonetheless -- and I figured I'd share as I'm taking a guess many of you haven't seen it, either.
But I'm also including a pretty interesting reaction to the film, courtesy of devoted YouTuber, Ron Gordy of 'The Ron Gordy Show.' Watch the short and his reaction after the jump ...
And now, for your viewing pleasure, I present to you: Randy Eisenberg's 'Two Big Fags.'
And here's Ron Gordy's reaction:
So tell me: What have YOU been doing this summer? (I'd love to hear from everyone from Seattle to Syracuse.)
Or tell me: What's YOUR reaction to the film? Do you agree or disagree with Ron?

My reaction to the film and Ron's reaction.
The film is hilarious, and yes, I know people like that. It's humor. Camp. Call it what you will. Satire maybe?
Now, I'm more a Ron type person. I'm pretty much a 'stache wearin', shaved head, bear drinkin' 'mo. But I have to say that Ron's reaction is mover over the top than the video! It's like black people hating black people. There ARE, for a lack of better words, flaming gurly-men in our community. And guess what, they rock our world just as much as the butchest of us. If it weren't for the dress wearing guys and stonewall...
Come on... Lighten up, enjoy the video, have a beer, and get some fresh air...

There's seems to be a perception on the part of Ron Gordy that somehow, he's a better person than those two 'fags' because he's a more acceptible, manly man. That's the kind of fractiousness and insidious homophobia that really harms our community. We need to actively exorcise homophobia in ourselves before we can expect anyone else to see the light.
That said, I'd still fuck Ron Gordy - just wouldn't invite him to stay for breakfast.

I am flattered, Stanford that you chose to post my reply. I have received mostly positive responses in the comments section on YouTube. The only opposing response I received was from a gentleman who apparently failed his 7th grade English class. I was so frustrated by the content of the film that unfortunately when I produced my response, I associated this kind of negative mean spirited behavior with the gay community, my community. I apologize to any and all who may feel I take issue with those who don't or wont relate to me on this end of the nelly vs. butch spectrum. I find it ironic that not one person yet has been able to explain to me why it is funny to be hurtful, mean-spirited, negative and derogatory. To be honest, I find most effeminate men to be quite attractive.. This is not about being nelly or butch.. It is about behavior that promotes hate.. I find the two men in the film to be hateful.. Did you read any of the comments attached to the YouTube page that the film is showing on? A lot the comments I read were dripping with anger aimed at the gay community.. I think we should be setting a more positive example.. That's all. Thank you.
