Daytime Television's Very First Teenage Gay Kiss!
This groundbreaking clip from 'As The World Turns' is the VERY FIRST TIME two gay teen characters have locked lips on daytime TV.
And we're not talking about a 'Melrose Place' kind of kiss. (You know what I mean: The camera lurks behind one of the guys' heads to block the actual kiss, but "we know what they're doing, right?" Um, wrong!)
Oh no. We're talking sexy and full-on!
This is a big step in the right direction: The scene (and, one can assume, the storyline to follow) not only makes the love and affection between two men more acceptable and laissez-faire (as it should be), but it also tells countless LGBT teens who might be watching the show that what they themselves are thinking, feeling and doing is normal and nothing to be ashamed of. And that's a wonderful thing.
So tell me, QueerSighters: What do YOU think? Is this a big deal or a big yawn? Let me know.
1. HOLY SHIT.
THAT'S HOT.

2. That was freaking HOT!

3. Yes, it's a big deal. . .
. . .here's hoping As The World Turns doesn't 'wuss' out like so many other daytime shows did before them (Days of Our Lives comes immediately to mind)

6. Yay! That was the cherry on top of a wonderful day! I hardly ever see guys kiss on the internet... it's usually girls kissing that I watch when I log on. ^_^ thanks again!

7. yes, that was so hot! I just wish my father was still alive to see this, He was a big fan of "As the world turns". He always watch the show for as long as I an remember.Yes, he also give me and my lover support for the best that he could, but it wasn't easy for him. This would have made it easier for him, I'm sure,He was a man with Love in his heart.

8. Unbelievable! Yet another show jumping on the band wagon, trying to convince us that homosexuality is okay, even acceptable. It is not, and never will be. You are not born that way; you choose to be that way. Disgusting.

9. Wow. this is sweet! but the other guy looks kinda old.
Posted at 4:36PM on Aug 18th 2007 by Dougie
10. The kiss is so cute! They both look very good together as well. I'm glad to see that more people are willing to show that homosexuality is beautiful and normal.

11. It's a big deal. This is the kind of thing GLAAD should be standing up and shouting from the rooftops. Two guys in a natural setting with real emotions. It just re-enforces the farce behind them backing things like "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry"

12. THIS IS SUCH A BIG DEAL! Wow, for two male teenagers to kiss on day time television is sich a big deal. Hopefully this will inspire more LGTBQ teen relationships in Prime time television!

13. i personally think its about time that the show took the adnishivitive to show that there is more than a certian kind of LOVE that is suppose to be right ----(the norm) there is more than 1 kind of love & the show just showed that
so i say yippee to the writters & you should be EMMY BOOUND for that eppisode

14. Yes - totally Hot - I don't watch this Soap - but Wow what a TV moment!
Posted at 2:43PM on Aug 20th 2007 by Shayne
15. How beautiful is this? The only thing I hate is that it is big news...and the we have to get excited about something that should be an everyday event.
Posted at 10:01AM on Aug 22nd 2007 by Farrish Carter
16. I also think it's about time we see a step in a positive direction; it wouldn't bother me at all if other shows followed suit!
And Lisa, I'd like to know what rock you crawled out under; because I KNOW I didn't choose to be gay - And by using your logic (As limited as it is), then that would mean that you CHOOSE to be straight (Which I have no problem with, honestly).....At least I'm not calling your way of life "Disgusting"
Just my .02
Kenny

18. Jake Silbermann is actually two years younger than Van Hansis. He just looks older because he has a more preppy look.
