A QueerSighted reader left this comment this morning. I think you'll agree that it deserved some special attention.
"The very purpose of a Bill of Rights was to withdraw certain subjects from the vicissitudes of political controversy, to place them beyond the reach of majorities and officials, and to establish them as legal principles to be applied by the courts. One's right to life, liberty, and property, to free speech, a free press, freedom of worship and assembly, and other fundamental rights may not be submitted to vote; they depend on the outcome of no elections." --
Justice Jackson, W.V. Board of Ed. vs. Barnette, US Supreme Court, 1940
According to Jackson, religious liberty did not entitle members of religious groups to ignore a law when they didn't like it. Religious liberty means freedom from conformity to the religious dogmas of others, not freedom from conformity to the law because of their own religious dogmas.
Thanks to qjersey201 for calling this to our attention!

Tell that to O'Reilly. He's still saying that America is a christian country.
Even when anyone comes to him with historical and scientific fact, he takes it as opinion. Unfortunately he's on public tv and we're here (where no one HAS to see us).
