Movie - "Oy Vey! My Son Is Gay!" is the story of a Jewish family living in Long Island, where every Friday night Shirley Hirsch (Lainie Kazan) invites another "perfect" girl for Shabbat dinner in hopes that her son, Nelson (John Lloyd Young), will marry a nice Jewish girl.
Things get interesting when she finds out that her dreams of a perfect Jewish girl are dashed by a mysterious girlfriend who is non-Jewish, and also a boy! *Gasp*
The film also features performances by Carmen Electra and Jai Rodriguez (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy).
QueerSighted caught up with Jai Rodriguez at the Montreal World Film Festival (where the film premiered) to chat about his new movie, how his own Mom reacted to his own "coming out," and what's up next...

QueerSighted (QS): How did you get involved in this movie?
Jai Rodriguez (JR): I auditioned for the film 2 years ago and didn't really think I had gotten it. I thought I did well because Evgeny (the director) had me read with several guys BUT I didn't hear anything after the casting.
QS: What were the challenges of the role?
JR: I think it's always hard trying to create chemistry with a stranger and make it seem you are in a loving committed relationship.
QS: How did your parents react when you "came out"?
JR: Ha! Well I was raised in a single parent home and my mom did not accept it for years. Good thing I got RENT the musical right out of High School. It allowed me an escape, and opportunity to learn how to embrace who I am.
QS: Are you seeing any other films at the World Film Festival while you are in Montreal? If so, which ones?
JR: I didn't get to see any other films but I would have liked too.
QS: What is up next for you?
JR: I have a record being released on iTunes this fall and I am also hosting on Game Show Network. As well, I am gigging at different clubs and Casinos. I hope to book a gig in Montreal. Best way to keep up with me is by joining my fan page on Facebook OR by following me on Twitter (@Jairodriguez)!
