DVD - Volume 2 in the tittilating Boys on Film series of short films from Peccadillo Pictures steps it up a notch with the theme 'In Too Deep'. You can expect to find Frisky Farmboys, Macho Mexicans, Vengeful mothers and, um...powerpoint.

With every anthology, you get ups and downs, but that's really the beauty as it caters to all tastes. My personal favourite was IRIS prize winning Cowboy from Till Kleinert. Till was a young student filmmaker in Germany when he created this sexy, creepy short, running at a very un-short 35 mins!

An estate agent goes to investigate a prime piece of property in the countryside whereupon he encounters a mysterious farm boy. A mutual attraction develops, albeit uneasily, and the pair indulge in a bout of passion amongst the haystacks. Meanwhile, out among the corn fields, a horrifying fate awaits them...

Elsewhere, Canadian Trevor Anderson contemplates life on an Island inhabited solely by gays, with some innovative animation.

If you've never bought a collection of short films before, and think they're just for festivals, I say give it a go. They're great for parties as guests can dip in and out of them without having to focus on too much plot. I also watch them when TV fails me, but I'm too tired to stay up for an entire feature film. It's also a great place to see promising filmmakers before they make it big, and innovative ideas that would find it hard to receive funding in a mainstream environment. That's why gay short films can be so satisfying (plus there's all the nudity). Boys on Film 1 is still available, and volume 3 is due to arrive shortly.
