London - It has been confirmed that the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been paying 4 million British pounds (£) to service personnel unfairly dismissed from the armed forces because of their sexual orientation.

But the battle is not yet over. Different Californian gay rights organisations and councils started taking legal actions against the proposition. That's one of the harsh findings of a poll conducted by British broadsheet The Observer. 24% of Britons opposes homosexual sex and believes that it should be made illegal. This rise of 1% since a similar survey in 2002 shows that although the decriminalisation of homosexual acts was already passed in 1967 in the so called Sexual Offences Act, it still looks like quite a big group of the British public would rather turn back time.
