Ask any New Yorker, especially a gay New Yorker and you'll likely be told that Christopher Street is yesterday's news, years past its prime as a gay epicenter and lodestone for alternative lifestyles. Like many things in this magical and eccentric city, this claim is both absolutely true and absolutely false. For over a century, Greenwich Village has been an established landmark on the map of alternative lifestyles, bohemian culture and political activism.
